KerML
KerML (Kernel Modeling Language) is the base language beneath SysML v2. It defines the fundamental concepts SysML builds on; parts of the standard library are written in KerML.
Also known as: Kernel Modeling Language
SysML v2 is defined as an extension of KerML. KerML provides basic concepts such as types, features, specialization and classification; SysML adds the systems engineering concepts on top – parts, ports, actions, requirements.
Do you need to know KerML?
For everyday modeling in SysML v2, usually not. KerML matters to tool vendors and for the full semantics, for example when loading the standard library.
KerML in itemis PRISM
PRISM reads SysML v2 files but no .kerml files, and it does not load the standard library; it recognizes library references by their names.
