SysML v2
SysML v2 is the second generation of the OMG Systems Modeling Language: a language for describing the requirements, structure, behaviour and analyses of technical systems as a model – graphically and as text.
Also known as: Systems Modeling Language v2
SysML v2 is the successor of SysML 1.x, redesigned by the Object Management Group (OMG). Unlike its predecessor it is no longer built on UML but on a kernel language of its own, KerML.
What is new compared to SysML 1.x?
- Textual notation: Besides the graphical notation there is an equivalent textual notation. Models can be written, versioned and compared like source code.
- Definition and usage: A core principle separates types (
part def Motor) from their use (part motor : Motor) – for parts, ports, actions, requirements and more. - Standard API: The Systems Modeling API describes how tools exchange models.
- Views as model elements:
viewwithexposeandrenderstates in the model what a view shows and how.
Example
part def Pump {
port waterIn : WaterPort;
port waterOut : ~WaterPort;
}
SysML v2 in itemis PRISM
itemis PRISM reads and writes the SysML v2 textual notation and generates diagrams and views from it. It writes only standard constructs, but it is deliberately not a fully conformant tool: its semantics are reduced and constraints are not evaluated.
